This research represents Wave 1 of the area studies research. Six local authority areas were selected for inclusion in the area studies sample based on various geographic and socio-demographic criteria.
In these 6 local authorities, fieldwork included interviews and focus groups with practitioners and professionals in schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), early years settings, Further Education Institutions (FEIs), local authorities and local health boards (LHBs). In some local authorities, fieldwork included a small number of interviews or focus groups with learners with ALN and parents/carers of learners with ALN

ColegauCymru has published a new sensory guidance document for the further education (FE) sector. Produced by Arad in partnership with ColegauCymru, FE institutions and third sector organisations this guide has been designed to help FE professionals in Wales understand how to best support learners who are deaf and learners with a vision impairment. The guidance outlines key principles and recommendations for supporting these learners, along with sections covering duties, types of support, professional learning, and further information and resources.
